- Be adventurous: Whether you are just out of High School and choosing an online degree or a returning student, make your education an opportunity to grow and be challenged. When selecting courses, especially electives, try something new and challenging, you never know how you could be rewarded.
- Be Social: Nearly all online education insitutions offer forums, posting boards, chat or instant messaging so that students can interact iwth one another. Be social with your fellow students, discuss coursework and classes with them, it can go a long way in furthering your understanding of the material and help you develop necessary team work and social skills for when you start working.
- If you can take the classes for your major first: If the institution you have chosen allows it, get your major credits out of the way first as they will probably require the most focus. This knowledge will spur you to act on your own behalf, asking questions, doing further research and motivating yourself to remove obstacles and create routines that enable you to get your course work compelted.
- In class, ask questions: While the anonymity of being in class online helps with this, many of us are shy and do not want to speak up when we need clarification or do not understand something. This is a not beneficial though and you should bear in mind that you might not be the only person that is confused by remaining silent. Be sure to ask questions when you feel the need to, it benefits everyone.
- Study for tests: Even if you feel that the material has been easy, if a course includes tests study for them. Begin studying several days in advance instead of cramming the night before.
